IAN BENINGFIELD

It is with great sadness that I have to announce the passing of one of our founding members, Ian Beningfield. Ian's death, after a short illness, comes as a great shock.

.

Ian was part of the bedrock on which we started this club. His experienced hand as treasurer and committee member for Classic Marques was just what we needed to help us navigate the challenges of establishing and controlling the finances of the start up and the regulatory requirements of Motorsport UK. More than once his calm input balanced the over enthusiasm of the committee and kept us on the straight and narrow. His involvement will be sorely missed.

A keen competitor himself in the MGCC championship in his Midget, Ian was also a committee member of their South West Centre and Clerk of Course for their September Wiscombe event, a round of our championship of course.

.

It is not just the motorsport world that will miss Ian. His day job was as Head of Partnership and Funding at the Meningitis Research Foundation. A vital role in the fight against that awful illness, which he tackled with the same enthusiasm and generosity of time that he brought to his motorsport involvements.
