1970 TRIUMPH VITESSE MK2 SALOON
Specification
The Vitesse is the last of the “small chassis” Triumphs, closely related to both the Spitfire and GT6. The Vitesse was replaced by the “tin can” Dolomite Sprint in 1972. The Mk2 Vitesse featured a 104bhp 2 litre engine. Lower wishbone rear suspension avoided the worst of the dreaded rear wheel tuck-under of it’s Herald cousins. Very few saloons survive, many saloons were changed to convertibles.
Engine: 1998cc straight 6, twin 1˝” Stromberg CD150 carbs, gas flowed head and larger valves, all rotating parts balanced, lightened flywheel. Straight through single exhaust.
Gearbox: 4 speed with stronger J type overdrive, ATB differential with 4.11 final drive, UJ rear drive shaftsn
Wheels: 13” x 5” Revolution alloy wheels, Pirelli Cinturato CN36 175x70 R13 tyres
Bodywork: Two door four seater, all steel body with separate chassis
